#13 - 7.30 — I started singing when I was three years old. I've worked with—and listened to—the very best, from Judy Garland to Tony Bennett, and just about everyone else in between. We all shared the same basic instruments: lungs, vocal cords, and whatever God-given talent we were fortunate enough to have. But I have NEVER seen anyone sing the way Davis Gaines does. He doesn't just sing with his magnificent voice (2000 performances of "Phantom" on Broadway, LA and San Francisco)...he sings with his entire body. Every muscle, every movement, every breath, every heartbeat seems to become part of the music. He doesn't perform a song—he lives it. And when he's finished, you don't just remember what you heard...you remember what you felt! Thanks to Adam Karsten, Jimmy Cuomo and CVREP for bringing the magic yet again. #12 - 7.28 - Spent another evening in Adam Karsten's air conditioned "living room" w/ Glenn Rosenblum presenting his intimate "continuing education course"; "The Holidays in July" (Broadway's Holiday Songs and a Little from Hollywood Too). Glenn's 2nd summer installment brought us holiday cheer in July, w/ special guests Eileen Barnett and Dana Meller. Those of us who've already completed the introductory sessions from the "professor" are already signing up for MORE!! www.cvrep.org and hear Glenn on the Joey English Show July 19. www.joeyenglish.com.

#11 - 7.23 - Adam Karsten isn't slowing down in presenting "cool' hits in his Summer Cabaret Series @ CVRep. Mary VanArsdel channeled Barbara Cook PERFECTLY for those of us who remember Barbara and even those who don't. It was a delicious romp through musical comedy and then some w/ this polished Broadway Vet. Check her out on www.joeyenglish.com July 12th. Only 2 more shows in this series. www.cvrep.org.

#10 - 7.21 - ...and the "hits, just keep on comin'". Nic and Desi @ CVRep proved that a married couple can live and work and spend 24.7 TOGETHER!!! Their intimacy and communication was so evident on stage, made many of us re-think our relationships. lol www.cvrep.org.

#9 - Happy Birthday to the legendary, gifted and incredibly talented Karen Barone (thanks for the RED) and happy day for the 4 gals + Karen (missing 2 of us in the photo) hosted AND BEAUTIFULLY FED (I haven't eaten since...lol) by Michael O'Neill @ his fabulous home. So much joy from such a tiny gal. BLESSINGS all around.

#8 - 7.17. - Followed the "Yellow Brick Road" the opening night @ Palm Canyon Theatre for the treasured "Wizard of Oz". So many standouts....Derik Shopinski's COSTUMES, J.W. Layne's SETS AND SCREENS, Se Layne on the TECH BOARD..and such a talented cast, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM and Toto. (so much for NOT working w/ kids and animals) Captivated especially by Noah Wahlberg's SCARECROW, but then, weren't we always drawn to the Scarecrow? Generational talent from Ava Tethal's "DOROTHY", so that's at least 3 generations at Palm Canyon Theatre. AND the after-party @ Willie Rhine's "849". Don't miss this - Plays through July 26. www.palmcanyontheatre.net.

#7 - Thank you for all your prayers for our dear "Gypsy" (James "Gypsy" Hakke) who is recovering in hospital w/ a brand new hip ball @ 94!!! (There's a great on-liner there!!) My precious friend since New York in 1969 - that's a lot of years and a lot of martinis...he was just here visiting Dan Gore and me and was planning his return trip.....AND he promised he WOULD NEVER LEAVE ME in his daily phone calls. So your prayers worked!!!

.

#6 - July 14 - I had just watched "That's Entertainment III" on TCM and then went to Adam Karsten's Glorious Summer Cabaret Series @ CVREP starring Glenn Rosenblum and experienced a REAL Master Class 101 in "Broadway Showstoppers - A Valentine To Broadway's Love Songs". Glenn's style, talent, wit and knowledge delighted the air-conditioned crowd from start to finish. Special guest and Broadway veteran Alix Korey was the doctoral dissertation that capped a brilliant evening that was both humorous and sophisticated. Glenn appears again on Tues., July 28th, DON'T MISS HIM!!! And don't miss him on the Joey English Show Sun., July 19. www.cvrep.org.

#5 - July 7 - Adam Karsten's Summer Cabaret Series @ CVREP continues to be the "coolest" evening in town. We were treated to a wonderful program of music, stories, and songs from actor, singer, dancer, and director Robert Yacko (www.robertyacko.com) as he remembered his work on Broadway and WAY BEYOND by honoring a bevy of magnificent composers. As he "worked" through this first performance of this authentic "CABARET," we heard songs that we loved and knew, along with songs that were NEW TO US. Robert has a great voice, Gerald Sternbach is an amazing pianist, and Robert is a wonderful storyteller. Every Tuesday and Thursday @ 7 PM through July 30. www.cvrep.org. Listen to Robert on the Joey English Radio Show. www.joeyenglish.com.

#4 - Tyler's view of the celebration FROM THE 2ND ROW for America's 250th bday. He loved the fly-overs, fireworks, flags and festivities!!! Tyler said "any 250th birthday deserved a special trip", so he made one. lol

#3 - 7.4 - God Bless America. The oldest republic on Earth, w/ the freest people on earth, w/ the most righteous and enduring Constitution on Earth and the strongest and most powerful country on Earth. Amen!!!

#2 - 7.3, early celebration @ ACT-Tours' Steve Kanold and Lalo Tachiquin's home in Yucca Valley. Great food, fun, fellowship and FIREWORKS. AND the Purple Mountains' Majesty!

#1 - 7.1. - Spoke @ ACT's FREE Travel Club of the Desert. Honored 4th of July, Veterans and talked about the Scorpio Bday Trip in Nov., to the Mexico AND when to listen to my show. www.act-tours.com.
