- REPORT that today (June 7) is a very exciting day for theater lovers from coast to coast. In the Coachella Valley, it was the afternoon of the annual Palm Springs Young Playwrights Festival. In New York, it’s the night of the Tony Awards!
And today is the start of one of the most exciting June calendars we can remember: with XOXO Palm Springs: the Citywide Arts & Culture Celebration from June 11th through the 22nd and ShortFest from June 23rd through 29th!

REPORT ON PALM SPRINGS “SHORTFEST” INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL (Festival Theatres, 789 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs, 92262)
▪ ShortFest is the largest showcase of short-form cinema in North America. It features the most innovative, boundary-pushing and entertaining short films from around the world. Audiences will have the opportunity to screen hundreds of short films from more than 60 countries.
▪ The seven-day competitive festival allows filmmakers to qualify for Hollywood’s Academy Award, Great Britain’s BAFTA Awards and Spain’s Goya Awards. Beyond the screenings and qualifying opportunities, ShortFest is a hub for filmmakers and industry professionals to connect, learn, and grow.

This award-winning production returns to The Bent – for two performances only. With humor – and historical accuracy - the play explores facts surrounding Lincoln’s rocky courtship with Mary Todd, juxtaposed with the four years that Lincoln shared a bed with Joshua Speed, a man that history records as Lincoln’s “best friend.” There will also be five performances of “The Lincoln Debate” at The Broadwater Theater Second Stage during this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival.
