- DISCUSSION OF $100,000. Grant for spay and neuter services. You can qualify for financial assistance on the website if you NEED help. Starting in the unincorporated areas of the CV. Then in Oct., they will be going city-to-city. Call (760) 343-3477. 2nd Year in a Row for this grant. KITTIES ARE HUGE PROBLEM NOW.
- DISCUSSION of the “catch and release” program as well.
- REPORT that it is illegal in CA. TO LEAVE A PET IN A LOCKED CAR.
- DISCUSSION to NOT leave metal chains on your pet in the heat, or water in metal bowls.
- HOLD THE DATES;
1. WED., SEPT., 16; Palm Springs Expo and Taste of Palm Springs @ Indian Canyons Golf Course, there will be an Animal Sams booth; 5 – 9 PM. Indoor and outdoors.
2. SAT., SEPT., 26; 11 AM - 1 PM Petco (in Palm Desert on Hwy., 111) Adoption Event
3. EVERY 1ST SAT., of the Month @ PetSmart 11 AM – 1 PM in Palm Desret.
4. SUN., DEC., 6, 17th annual “Men of the Desert Fashion Show and Luncheon” Disco Dogs @ the P.S. Air Museum. 10:30 AM – 2 PM.
- DISCUSSION that “Yappy Hour” is back for the Season. First Thurs., of each month @ the Riviera Hotel. Fun-raiser w/ Pet Parents who have friendly dogs on leashes. $20. Donation; wine, appetizers. Come even if you DO NOT have a pet. No adoptions at this event. This is social.
- REPORT on the Therapy Pets Volunteers Classes. You must take the class and pass a test. The work is in hospitals, libraries, schools, even COD during Finals, etc.
- REPORT on the Adoption fees are $90 for kitties and $250. for puppies.
- REPORT that volunteers are ALWAYS NEEDED.
