-02-12 through 02-28; “In The Wake”
Set against the presidential election and political turmoil of 2000, Ellen – an activist and writer – unapologetically weaves her complex passions through the lives of her family and friends in this funny, intelligent and searing play by Lisa Kron, who also wrote the book and lyrics for the Tony Award winning musical “Fun Home.” Director Laura Stearns has said that this is a play about contradictions – both emotional and political. She describes it as intimate, urgent and incredibly entertaining. The cast includes Kim Schroeder Long (known to many in our region as a talented singer but also an impressive actress), Kudra Wagner, J. Clare Merritt, Jessica Lenz, Sharianne Greer, Allie Herb and…from New York City…Ashley Robinson, who has acting credits from New York to London’s West End. He also wrote the book for the new musical based on “Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy

- REPORT ON CVREP (68510 E. Palm Cyn., Dr., C. C. 92234)
- 02-25-03-15; “Guys and Dolls”
This classic musical by Frank Loesser ran for 1,200 performances when it opened on Broadway in 1950. Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, the show has won a bevy of awards, including Tony Awards, Drama Desks and Oliviers. But it will be an entirely new experience at CVRep as you enter the den of thieves and Prohibition. Gambling will be what you do when you enter Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City; the CVRep production of Guys and Dolls will show you just how tough you had to be to get by as a night club dancer, illegal craps game organizer, high roller or missionary. This will be a version of this oddball romantic comedy like you have never seen it before.
